1.Bill is the head of Bayer’s Corporate Social Responsibility for China. He has been working for Bayer continuously in China since 1987 – over 21 years.

Since 2004 he has been at Tsinghua University, as the Co-director of the Tsinghua-Bayer Public Health and HIV/AIDS Media Studies Program. He is a Research Fellow and a Senior Guest Lecturer at the School of Journalism and Center for International Communications where he has been teaching a course each semester on “Values Driven Public Relations” since 2006.

In 2007 he joined the International Advisory Board of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, at the Boston College Carroll School of Management. Also In 2007 he was named a Management Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Center.

He holds an MBA from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management in Arizona and a Masters degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University, New York.

Bill also chairs the European Chamber’s CSR Working Group in Beijing and is also a longstanding member of the Amcham CSR Committee. He was selected to be a member of the 2008 AmCham “Door knock” Delegation to Washington DC that took place on May 11-14, 2008, representing American business interests in China and the topics of CSR and Sustainable Development.

Since January 2007 he contributes a monthly column called “MBA Toolkit For CSR” to the PRC based magazine “China CSR” (accessible online at: http://www.chinacsr.com/). In January 2008 he began writing a monthly section on CSR and Sustainable Development for the magazine “China Fortune” a business publication under the State Council that will continue throughout 2008.

A longstanding advocate for businesses combating HIV/AIDS, Bill facilitated the start-up of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (an international organization based in New York) in China in 2004 and serves as their Vice Chairman. He is also a Board Member of the NGOs “AIDS Care China” since 2006 and “Positive Art“ since 2004.

In June 2006 Bill received a part-scholarship from the Harvard School of Public Health to join the ‘Intensive Course in Health and Human Rights” at The François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University.

In 2006 he was also invited to be a member of the National Committee on United States-China Relations.
