Biography:

Brenda holds a PhD in Tourism, MA in Landuse and Regional Development, and BA in Geography. Her professional expertise is in the area of Conservation, Community Development and Gender. Brenda is currently part of the academic staff and is a researcher at Makerere University. Makerere University is the oldest and largest public university in Uganda. The university’s research focuses on and prioritizes research innovations by academic staff. Natural Resources Management and issues of Environmental Conservation are at the core of the University’s research agenda. Integrating gender in research and innovation is also key. Brenda aspires to start an NGO that empowers women to own agribusinesses that are interlinked to conservation opportunities – where they are able to sell their produce to tourist lodges in their communities. Given that there is ready market with a low supply of produce, investing in this area will support people living in poverty, particularly women.
