Caroline has over 9 years of experience in African smallholder farmer systems, assessing multi-crop production and adaptation to climate change. She is a scientist at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) who specializes in farming systems and climate change. CIAT is a member of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). CIAT’s mission is to reduce hunger and poverty and improve human nutrition in the tropics through research aimed at increasing the eco-efficiency of agriculture. Caroline is involved in projects in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and she wants to promote the adoption of climate smart technologies among at least 1,000,000 smallholder farmers in East Africa by 2020. She hopes to become a leading expert on climate adaptation issues and Climate Smart Agriculture.
