Biography:

Heyddy completed her PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources from the TU Delft and UNESCO-IHE, in the Netherlands in 2015. Her expertise broadly covers catchment hydrology, surface water-groundwater interactions, mangrove hydrology, water security and water resources management. She is now the Head of Research and Development at the Nicaraguan Aquatic Resources Research Center (CIRA), an institution devoted to generating and providing scientific information regarding water resources for decision makers and for society. CIRA also provides specialized training in water sciences and scientific advice and analytical services to the public. Heyddy expects to increase her participation within governmental projects by strengthening their links to government institutions and developing stronger collaboration with them, as well as with the private sector. She would like to develop a national water resources research and management program, in collaboration with universities, the government and the private sector.
