Biography:

Sylvia completed her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and did an MSc. in Tropical Animal Production in 2004. Her professional expertise broadly covers livestock production, farming systems, organic agriculture and qualitative research methods. She is a PhD student and a lecturer at Makerere University. The School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources (SVAR) at Makerere University is focused on training students using problem based approaches. Its staff is involved in research and community outreach programs that focus on solving livestock farming challenges in the rural areas. Sylvia’s future goals include developing her PhD research outputs into a development project, developing training materials on sustainable agricultural practices, developing a manual on pineapple waste silage making, organizing farmers into cottage processing and marketing groups to link with organic markets and pilot organic milk production with selected farms.
