Brenda Boonabaana

Brenda BoonabaanaBrenda Boonabaana is currently a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Forestry at Makerere University in Uganda. Her research expertise touches heavily upon relationships between tourism, gender and development, and conservation.

She received her Bachelor of Art with a Education-Geography major in Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Her academic pursuits did not stop there, as she went on to pursue a PhD in Gender and Tourism Development at the University of Otago, located in Dunedi, New Zealand. Her research topic was about community-based tourism development and gender relations in Uganda.

Her passion for gender issues are evident through her academic and work career. She is a member of the International Association for Feminist Economics and a member of the National Women’s Think Tank. She has been a consultant on many occasions about gender-related issues, giving advice to organizations such as Uganda Women’s Network and CAMCO Clean Energy.
