Ruth Muroki is a seasoned planner with over fifteen years of working experience in urban and regional planning with the Nairobi County Government. She has been extensively involved in policy formulation and review to guide development in the city on areas of participatory physical planning, socioeconomic analysis, and environmental analysis and infrastructure.
She serves currently as Assistant Director to the Nairobi City County. In her work, she is the Head of the Nairobi Master Plan Implementation Unit, which spans from 2014-2030. She evaluates the Environmental Impact Assessment studies that were submitted to Nairobi County from National Environmental Management Authority on suitability of location and effectiveness of the Environmental Management Plan.
Ruth earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Linguistics from the University of Nairobi, and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Planning, specifically Urban & Regional Planning. Ruth also received many awards for her work and dedication, including the Netherlands Fellowship Award for Postgraduate Diplomas at the Institute of Housing in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
