Ximena Barrera received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Javeriana University, and wrote a dissertation during her studies on the Analysis of the Impacts of Electric Tariffs in the Consumer Behavior. She is currently a Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility Director of WWF Colombia. She is both passionate and experienced in International Sustainable Development Policy and in public and private inter-institutional coordination with different economic sectors.
Ximena joined WWF Colombia in 2000, and since then she has built an extensive and influential policy agenda in Colombia from local levels to international locations. With her leadership, WWF Colombia has developed an agenda with private sectors from agro-industry to finance to move towards a stronger sustainability agenda. As a result of her successful management in this organization, she has been called upon to participate on behalf of Latin America and within the global WWF network at many international governance settings, such as the UNFCC and the UN Post 2015 Agenda.
