The course fee is US$8,000. This fee covers the costs of instruction, housing, most meals, course materials, field trips, certificate, and health insurance if needed. In addition, participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements and for covering approximately US$400 in additional meals and incidentals.

Course participants are responsible for seeking their own funding. Participants are encouraged to seek funding from their employers, local /national government, non-governmental agencies at the local, regional and international level as well as sponsorship from foundations. Click here for a list of organizations that previous participants have successfully found financial support from. Please use the list only as a starting guide, as there are many more opportunities than those listed. Also, before approaching these organizations, please ensure you research whether or not they are currently able to sponsor individuals and their selection criteria (geographic/research/topic restrictions).
The Beahrs ELP at UC Berkeley has resources to offer a limited number of partial scholarships. The program is unable to offer any full scholarships. Partial scholarships are awarded on a combination of merit, need, and availability of funds. To apply for a partial scholarship, do so by indicating that you wish to be considered for this through the same application as you do for the course. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this award to all participants or any specific amount.
