Optional Post-Training Field Trips

The San Francisco Bay Area and the State of California offer a multitude of opportunities to visit inspiring examples of sustainable environmental management.  In summer 2012, the following in-depth field trips will be offered with expert guides.  Minimum of five participants required.  Prices include all expenses.

 

PARKS, PROTECTED AREAS AND WORKING LANDSCAPES

Visit Yosemite National Park and other sites where park managers are working together with farmers, ranchers, Native American tribes, tourists and rural communities to sustainably manage multi-use landscapes (5 days, $1,200).

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND FOOD JUSTICE

Meet with sustainable farmers and ranchers to learn best practices for successful diversified farming systems, and visit the organizations and communities that lead the thriving food justice movement in the Bay Area (3 days, $700).

GREEN CORRIDOR OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

Visit with the city managers, entrepreneurs and scientists who drive green technology, innovation and jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area.  An urban tour includes sustainable water and waste management facilities and platinum LEED buildings (2 days, $450).
