The course fee for the 2022 Beahrs ELP is US$7,525. This is lower than our standard program fee, as we are providing housing and meals for two weeks instead of three; however, this also takes into account the additional costs associated with running the program for a longer time overall (from May to July), online infrastructure and licensing, and the work done to update the curriculum to fit a hybrid format. You will be provided with housing and meals for the duration of the two weeks in-person, and will only need to bring the standard USD$400 for incidentals, as well as arrange your own travel (both international and domestic).
Program participants are responsible for seeking their own funding. Participants are encouraged to seek funding from their employers, local /national government, non-governmental agencies at the local, regional and international level as well as sponsorship from foundations.
Beahrs ELP Scholarships
The Beahrs ELP at UC Berkeley has resources to offer a limited number of scholarships. The program will grant partial scholarships of various amounts each year. The amount of the scholarships and the number of recipients will change each year based on the available funds. The scholarships can only be used toward the program fees, which includes lodging and accommodations, and cannot be used for travel or visa application fees.
For each scholarship, we consider the following factors:
- Financial need
- Professional experience
- Commitment and potential to achieve positive change in their community
In case of scholarships with specific criteria (e.g. geographical foci), those criteria will be used first.
Beahrs ELP Fellows Program
In addition to the partial scholarships we offer, our donors have created special fellowships for outstanding professionals. The number and amounts of this scholarship vary each year. We will select the fellowship recipients from those who indicated their financial needs in their application.
All recipients of Beahrs ELP scholarships and fellowships will be required to fully participate in the program, and may be required to provide specific feedback or participate in meetings.
